SONG OF THE OPEN ROAD

A1) About Poem /Poet /Title 👇
The poem ’ Song of the Open Road ‘ is written by Walt Whitman an American poet and is taken from his famous work ‘ Leaves of Grass’ . He is called as 'The father of Free verse '. ’ The road ’ deals with the freedom of the poet and his journey. It is title that shows the poet’s mood to travel on the open road of life. The title has a Metaphor which is compared to journey of life.
The poem inspired us to be happy in our life . It deals with optimistic note by the poet .The last stanza is separated from the earlier three stanzas .It is a free verse poem without any rhyme or metre.
A3) THEME
The theme of the poem is mainly freedom which are highlighted by words from the poem. One can live his happy life without any tension and neglecting its own problems and difficulties .
A4) Poetic style-
The poem is written in FREE VERSE no pattern is followed in the poem as there are no rhymes or metre. The length of Lines in the Poem are also different in each stanza.
The language of the poem is very simple to understand .
Poetic devices in the poem are inversion , repetition, paradox in old delicious burden and metaphor in the title ‘ song of the open road ‘ where the road is indirectly compared with the life.
A6) MESSAGE/MORALS /VALUES
The message of the poem is, we should enjoy our life without any worry and walk on the road of life freely. We should give importance to our every part of our life just like’ The Road.
A7) MY OPINION
The poem being short gives us a valuable message that is to enjoy our life and accept whatever is in our life. I like the poem very much because of its simplicity and the positivity of the poem .
